Special edition: The stylish equestrian for Jordan Sonnenberg

Jordan Sonnenberg

Jordan Sonnenberg 1Jordan Sonnenberg is one of those inspirational young riders who manages to combine academics and work with an equestrian lifestyle and a sense of immaculate style.

Jordan has been riding since she was 11 (she’s currently 20). She is in the fortunate position to own two fabulous warmbloods. A 13 year old Westphalian/Hanoverian named Cali (California Dreamer) with a bit of an interesting past and an 11 month old Trakehner/Hanoverian filly named Cadence. Both are very smart and have a big heart. They have very similar personalities which is why Jordan says she thinks she gets along with them both so well! A nice fact is that the both horses are also related: Cali’s two brothers are well known stallions to which one is Candence’s sire.
Jordan Sonnenberg 2
Cali and Jordan are now successfully competing in the jumper ring. When she bought her 7 months ago, Jordan was a hunter and EQ rider whith the ambitions to be a jumper. Cali has helped her achieve that goal and taken me the pair to new heights.

The pair will be showing as much as possible during the summer trying to fit everything in around Jordan’s busy life and work schedule: ‘I’m super excited for our future together’ Jordan said.

Jordan is very much into fashion and has a great love for expanding her (equestrian) wardrobe. With a deep love for Burberry and 2K Grey breeches, she always tries to look her stylish preppy best at the barn and in the showring.

Like her look? Here’s all the details:

Jordan absolutely loves anything by Burberry and therefore we chose the make the Burberry Brit London guard sweater the hero of this outfit, supported by some gorgeous Burberry accessories like the Burberry check and leather clutch and Burberry Red round sunglasses.

For Jordan, no #ROOTD is complete without her all time favorite breeches from 2K Grey and she loves the preppy look of the Ariat button down sunshirt under a sweater.

She likes the classic timeless look and feel of her Donatello boots by Tredstep and told us she loves the wide variety of choice that Mangobay Design offers when it comes to belts: ‘you can always find one to fit with any #ROOTD’ she said, which is why we incorporated one in this outfit too.

We finished off the look with a classic Charles Owen helmet, a pair of SSG gloves and the matching Daniel Wellington classic Sheffield watch.

Special Edition: The stylish equestrian for Lucia Rapalyea

Lucia Rapalyea

Lucia Rapalyea has been fascinated with the dressage since her early days as a Pony Clubber. She grew up in Salisbury, New Hampshire and graduated from Johnson & Wales University with a bachelor’s degree in Equine Business Management.Lucia 1

She spent a year as a working student in Holland for Dutch Olympic rider Bert Rutten and upon arrival, selected a 3-year-old Dutch warmblood gelding named Pascal. He was her first international prospect, which she trained herself from lower levels to Grand Prix.

In 2008 Lucia purchased a new dressage prospect, Amani. The pair has had a successful show career at Prix St.George and Intermediare – I. The pair looks forward to Intermediare – II and Grand Prix in the near future.

lucia-and-amani-showLucia is currently the head trainer at Creekside Equestrian in Yucaipa, California.

She believes that, to be true competitors, she and her equine partners must work daily to build a trusting and positive relationship.
Lucia told us she really likes navy, and rust/ burnt oranges, natural colors. She describes herself as a bit more “sporty” than the average dressage rider and likes to look smart and sporty every day working with her horses and clients.

Like her style? Here is all the info to get the look:

The super sporty and lightweight Anna jacket by Horze is an excellent example of Lucia’s style preferences. Natural beige colored breeches by Mountain Horse are the ideal pair to combine with Lucia’s favorite rust and navy color scheme. The rust colored Isabel Marant Etoile Keiran shirt perfectly combines sporty functionality with timeless style.

Lucia loves the look and individuality of the custom C4 belts and chose this one in particular as it fits perfectly with the whole look. C4 now offers you a special 10% discount if you’d like to shop the same belt or any other great personalized combo by using the code: thebeltguy at check out.

The blue and brown gloves are summer Roeckl and the blue helmet is by Samshield.

Lucia likes the idea of having all she needs close by throughout the day when riding or coaching and the Black Night competition accessories rider wristlet in chestnut is an ideal item for this.

Last but not least, Lucia likes the sporty functionality of a casual shoe throughout the day, but when riding, she loves the stylish De Niro custom riding boots.

The return of the Mac

Mac

Everyone needs a good ‘Mac’ in their wardrobe. Thankfully the days of the ugly bright yellow or basic hunter green are long gone.

When riding in the rain or going to support your friends at the Rolex Kentucky 3 day event or the Badminton horse trials this week, it’s always a good idea to be ready for a spring shower or two with a trusty ‘Mac’ at the ready..

I love this Yumi lace print baby blue rain ‘Mac’ – cute, stylish and functional! And, no rain proof outfit would be complete without a pair of matching Hunter boots (Wellies).

The top is a must have classic button down T shirt from Mountain Horse and the breeches are another key ingredient to make any outfit look classy: the beige Dada Sport riding pants.

Finish off the look with these elegant brown accessories like the KASK helmet, Roeckl summer gloves and the Philipa belt from Toggi.

Finally, step into your Mountain Horse Sovereign high rider boots for your ride and bring all your essentials for supporting your friends in this gorgeous brown leather tote bag from Kamila Lima.

Take some time to breath

Namaste

Just another manic Monday? Not enough enough time to breath, let alone time to change clothes between your yoga class and horse riding? No worries, with this look you can do both, just a quick change in accessories and you’re good to go.

Start of with the exquisite Aztec Diamond Equestrian technical leggings that can do triple duty as yoga pants, riding breeches and lounge wear. Layer a Stella McCartney tank top (she’s big on yoga and horses – we love her style!) underneath the classic Namaste on my horse T shirt from 20×60 and finish it off with a super comfy and stylish Bench black zip hoodie.

Swapping out some essential accessories will help you save time, do it all, and look great while doing it. Do not leave the house without a statement baseball cap to hide helmet and yoga hair, this one from Arka Equipe is a perfect swap for your Shagreen glossy black Antares helmet. A great pair of kicks to exchange for your Uniqcorn custom boots are the black and white New Balance sneakers.

Throw your Roeckl gloves, Novica yoga mat bag, Mala necklace (handmade and unique by Malatopia) and other accessories into you Day Birger et Mikkelsen Gweneth mesh sports bag and you’re ready to face a busy week Ohm style.

Have a stylish ride (and breath)!

Ohh ombré

Ombre

Ombré is everywhere this spring. I love the look, but we need to be careful not to tip over into that 90s tie die look we all want to forget about when wearing ombré pieces.

Here’s a way to style the ombré trend into your equestrian wardrobe.

Start off with a pair of classic breeches in a soft pastel shade. These Dada sport breeches are perfect for this look. Then, work with similar tones and neutrals to create a soft ombré effect. Layer a Joie Jobeth cashmere sweater over a light colored PINK Victoria Secret tank top and add on an O’Shaughnessy ombré scarf for some extra flair.

No miss accesories to complete this look are the KEP Italia python shine helmet, Roeckl cream colored gloves, and the maginificent DeNiro Ostrich custom boots.

Swap out your KEP Italia helmet with a matching Vanner hats hat for watching your fellow stylish riders after you’ve finished.

Have a stylish ride!
