SPOGA FAVORITES Sept 12018 edition

Screen Shot 2018-09-09 at 14.16.33

Twice a year the Messe in Cologne, Germany, opens its doors to horse lovers business to business heaven during the SPOGA tradefair. Every single time I attend, I’m blown away by the fabulous new fashion, the technical innovations and the discovery of new brands that shake up the established industry offerings. This year it was all about reinventing classic styles, the occasional pop of color and adding technical touches to trusted items.

A few brands stood out for me this time and I’ve made a little round-up of some of this years must haves:

Ariat has me completely hooked on their collections and I can’t wait to show you what’s new this year. I love them because of their excellent quality products, impeccable classic style and super selection. There are some very exciting things on their way this winter in the boots department (lace-ups anyone?) and breeches (casual crossover leggings anyone?), but for now I’ve added two of my personal favorites: the navy blue Tri Factor full seat breeches (product review on these beauties is coming up soon!) and a pair of coutnry casual Alora Cordovan boots.

Add a sleek and subtle show shirt to the look, like the “sky” shortsleeve from Equithème: a brand that has been around since the 80’s but has recently upgraded their selection and quality of products: make sure to check out their collection!

One of my all time favorites, Rönner Design, really is one of the very few brands in the business that can pull off classy pony prints for adults. I love their technical range to ride in, but also can’t resist most of their casual wear items like this Marina beige and ivory sweater.

Accessorize your ‘SPOGA favorites’ look with some items from smaller newcomer brands like an Espoir equestrian fancy stitch belt (check out their immaculate collection and be ready to shop!), a pair of 18K gold plated U Black rider spurs, a Desori horse gold logo bracelet an a classic and timeless Dapple Equestrian navy, beige and brown saddle pad to tie the whole look together.

Finish off your look with some tried and trusted brands who continuously reinvent themselves to give  us the best the equestrian world has to offer: a pair of Roeckl Milton gloves (loads of eco friendly news coming up from Roeckl soon) and a Galassia glitter dark blue KEP Italia helmet.

Wintery walks

Wintery walks

Whether you’re planning on a walk in the hills with your dog, are going for a quick coffee with friends on a chilly day or heading straight to the barn, this look will let you do all in comfort and style.

A pair of dark denim full seat breeches like the Cavallo Cira, is the ideal street-to-stable item, as they would look great as a pair of regular skinny jeans too. Especially if you wear them with a sophisticated stirrup print Fior da Liso Paua blouse and a lightweight baby blue Rochas V neck sweater over the top.

Get ready for the chill with a Quilted luscious brown Husky jacket, a pair of thermal Ariat Colliston H2O boots, which are great for walking and hiking the muddy moors as well as a casual wintery ride, Hauke Schmidt ‘touch of class’ gloves (not only nice for riding) and a Eugenia Kim Marley beanie for warmth and helmet hair management after taking off your KEP Italia Cromo smart blue helmet.

Add on a Pampeano polo belt for the last touch of style and don’t forget to bring along your pony print Stella McCartney Falabella bag for your daily essentials at the barn or in town.

Have a stylish walk or ride!

Au revoir summer

bye summer, hello autumn

Au revoir summer, see you again soon! It has been amazing, I will miss your beautiful mornings and late sunsets, but it’s time for autumn colors, crisp breezes and hot comforting drinks.

This time of year always calls for versatile looks that work for cold mornings and evening breezes as well as warm afternoons. A lightweight bomber jacket is the answer to all the in between season problems, like this Dabney jacket by Isabel Marant Étoile.

Wear it with a short sleeve sophisticated Euro Star Beau polo shirt and a pair of classic Pikeur Lugana beige breeches.

Layer on the navy blues with a Samshield helmet and Roeckl gloves and accentuate the bordeaux’s with a pair of Cavallo Linus Pro lace up boots, a Michael Cox double stud belt and a Sienna Jones saddle style  cross body bag.

Have a stylish ride!

Friday freedom

Friday freedom

Casual Friday at the office, with that Friday freedom feeling… wear you weekend vibes today in a casual young fun #rootd.

Every equestrian closet needs a pair of good denim breeches, and I particularly like this washed denim ‘Nig’ pair by Animo for summer. Wear it with a casual bright PK International Ixilon ‘Freedom’ T shirt and a blush pink lightweight bomber by Bestseller.

Keep it casual and classy with black rider essentials like an H&M canvas belt, a pair of Cavallo Carbon boots, Samshield V skin gloves and Kep Italia helmet.

Bring all your Friday favourites along to the barn in a Herschel Supply co matching backpack.

Have a stylish ride!

Hummingbird

Hummingbird

Have you seen the latest collection by Valentino: such a beautiful array of bird prints and embroidery. An absolutely perfect choice for a spring time #rootd. One of my favourites is this Hummingbird print blouse, which goes great with a pair of olive green Calea grip breeches by Cavallo and an HV Polo denim blue vest.

Match the blue vest with a pair of Uvex sport style gloves, a pair of Linda Farrow aviators and a KEP Italia custom helmet. Then, ad the final touches to your look with lightly burnt orange customised boots by Kingsley, a matching vintage Chloé woven leather belt and the it-bag of the season: the Soleil mini bucket bag by 3.1 Phillip Lim.

Enjoy the spring time birds and have a stylish ride!

Special Edition: The stylish equestrian for Scarlett Wyrobnik

Scarlett W final
Meet Scarlett Wyrobnik: Dressage rider, equestrian lifestyle ambassador and stylish equestrian.
Scarlett 1.pngScarlett has been riding since she was six years old. She started riding together with her older sister Jillian during the holidays and their parents, who were wonderfully obsessed with horses as too, were very supportive of the girls’ passion.
When she was 12 years old, Scarlett got her first very own horse Mistral. She did however have to share it with her sister.
They both learned a lot on Mistral and they were successful up to level M in dressage and showjumping with him.
Soon Scarlett had the chance to start working with young budding horses, and she decided to follow her passion and focus on dressage riding. With one of her favorite horses Rubina (lovingly called Kitty around the barn),  she learned everything up to level S. She got Kitty  when the mare was five and now she is now 16 years old.
Scarlett 2.pngUnfortunately, Kitty is suffering from laminitis and is not able to be ridden anymore, but she is enjoying her early retirement with Scarlett, always remaining her better half.
Sansibar joined Scarlett in November 2015 and is following in Kitty’s footsteps.
She trains this talented horse patiently, with love and harmony to hopefully have their first competition in a level L dressage test soon.
She wishes for the both of them that Sansibar stays healthy so she can continue with him where she had to stop with Kitty.
Scarlett and Sansibar are dreaming of someday riding their first Grand Prix together! Who knows,  according to Scarlett everything is possible with the right amount of discipline.
Scarlett’s role models in equitation are Hannelore Brenner, who is a paraequestrian for Germany and Uta Gräf. The fascinating part about Brenner is how she handles her handicap, trains her horses and offers them a great life.
Scarlett 3She loves Gräfs joyful spirit, which she transfers to her students. Scarlett finds herself very lucky to have experienced Uta Gräfs inspirational style when she participated in a few of her training courses.
Interesting facts about Scarlett are that she could watch her horses eating hay for hours. For her it’s better than watching TV 😉
Furthermore, she loves rides outside with her horses and her dog Zoé. Also, she takes great care of her equipment and a weekly cleanse is a must for her.
Scarlett’s favorite colors are muted tones like brown, black, grey and blue and loves it when everything matches. Every once in a while she’ll like to add a pop of bright red or blue to her look and match patterns to her horses’ gear.
We’ve put a look together today for Scarlett that incorporates not only her favourite hues, but also some of her all time favourite brands. She loves wearing Pikeur breeches and we went for the new Clarissa grip in navy blue. As a lover of matching outfits, we combined the breeches with a navy blue Mountain Horse long sleeve Alyssa polo and a navy blue HV Polo must have ‘Cheval’ vest (… a vest is really a must have versatile item for Scarlett). For an extra layer of comfort and style, we’ve added a grey Naketano zip hoodie, which is one of Scarlett’s favourite brands as well.
You’ll see Scarlett in a few different types of Samshield helmets and for this look we chose the classic Shadowmat navy blue one and added a Kingsland Delano navy blue baseball cap for after her ride. Playing on the blue and grey colorscheme we added a pair of Uvex sportstyle gloves and a true ‘equinelife’ necessity: a Horze grooming bag.
We finished off the look with a pair of Königs lace-up polo caramel colored boots and matched them to a Liebeskind Berlin braided belt.

Mountain breeze

Mountain breeze

Some of us are lucky enough to live and ride close to see lovely hills and mountains, but if you aren’t and are craving a fresh mountain breeze, why not incorporate it into your riding outfit of the day?

The Stella McCartney x ADIDAS mountain print sports jacket is the ideal spring active wear item: great print, functional and stylish. Wear it with a casual Moncler Scollo T shirt and a pair of Euro Star Alice grey full seat grip breeches.

Fresh greys and turquoises come back in the accessories too, like the KEP Italia Cromo T grey helmet, a fresh geometric print iPhone case and a pair of Apex breeze athletic knit lace up sneakers for before or after your ride.

Black rider essentials are always good with any outfit and the Cavallo Primus lace-up boots go particularly well with an H&M braided belt and a pair of black BR Equestrian All weather pro gloves.

Enjoy the mountain breeze and have a stylish ride!

Blue skies ahead

Blue skies ahead

Ahh this beautiful blue spring skies – the gentle warmth of the sun, with still just that little crisp in the air. Perfect inspiration for a spring time #rootd that will still keep you warm and looking your stylish best.

As you might know, I am quite the fan of a good denim breech, as they fit perfectly in my idea of the ideal street to stable look. This pair called Chaya grip by Cavallo is exceptionally nice thanks to its cut and color. Wear it with a baby blue criss cross sweatshirt by Athleta and a lightweight J.O.T.T. Jenna jacket.

Have you see these super sporty uniquely styled jumping boots by Alberto Fasciani? The specially developed insert gives you amazing contact with the horse: they are a must try! What makes them even better is that they come in a variety of color combinations to suit every mood. I’ve gone for the blue and black option to fit with this blue skies look. Add on a pair of dark blue Hauke Schmidt Touch of Class gloves and ride in style with the KASK Swarovski carpet blue Dogma helmet.

Add a few more touches of contemporary denim to your look with a Tommy Hilfiger belt and a Stella McCartney Falabella bag.

Enjoy the spring time blue skies and have a stylish ride!

An evening out

An evening out

Another busy week has started, and I don’t know about you, but my agenda is packed. I love being busy, but if I can save a little time here and there, then that’s very welcome. One of the time challenges I will be finding myself in this week is a planned training with a dinner out right afterwards… what to wear?

A simple swap of a few crucial items and I’ll be ready to go from the barn to the bar in under a minute.

Facing the same challenge? Wear your classic Asmar Equestrian beige breech as a base for this look, layer on a basic chic black scoop neck T by Alexander Wang and wear a burgundy lightweight Patagonia vest when riding. Complete the barn look with a pair of customized De Niro boot co burgundy dressage boots, matching Miasuki Becky leather belt, a pair of Hauke Schmidt Touch of Class gloves and at the all black stunning KASK Dogma helmet.

Before heading to the bar, swap your boots for a pair of Stella McCartney Elyse Platform Oxford shoes, exchange your vest for the Miasuki Diamond Evening jacket, run your fingers through your helmet hair and bring along your Lancaster Adele mini saddle bag for your money, keys and phone.

Have a great night out and a stylish ride!

Candy apple

Candy apple

Nothing says spring happiness like a pair of Candy apple colored breeches! Don’t you just love this pair by Dada Sport called Armitage rouge? Wear it with an unusually color combo like this light jade green, with an H&M T shirt, a pair Puma platform sneakers and a Liebeskind Grit Suede fringe backpack. And of course top it of with this beautiful floral print vest for Madeleine.

I love the way these HKM Valencia boots are both stylish and affordable and they fit perfectly with a stunning GPA First Lady 2X helmet, a Rebecca Ray bit belt and a pair of Hauke Schmidt Touch of Class gloves.

Finish of your look with another  candy apple accessories like a pair of Matthew Williamson sunglasses.

Have a stylish ride!
