What would you hope for?
Seasons are changing, but we’re always as busy as ever rushing from business to barn. I have a question for you guys: which one of these two looks would you wear as a classic Autumn street to stable look?
Both of the looks are by Espoir Equestrian: a new and fresh South African brand that shares their vision of hope, style and grace with the equestrian world.
Espoir, what I hope for…
I am made with hope. I am woven with passion and styled to perfection.
I am the perfect stitch running through every garment. Every application following years of experience.
My core is quality. I am created with a purpose and come alive when you thrive.
I will lead, I will inspire, I will fulfill more than my purpose.

Taking the ‘rains’
The days are getting shorter, the nights longer and the mornings colder… yep, Autumn’s is on its way! What I love about Autumn is the gorgeous coloring of the leaves and the great layering of early winter fashion, but, one thing I don’t particularly like though, is the relentless rain this season seems to bring with it. Nowadays though, rain really is not that big of a problem anymore around the barn and or on your horse. Gone are the yellow plastic raincoats, the heavy contraptions that shield you from the rain but make you sweat like a racehorse or the musty old wax coat that rears it’s ugly head every year.
Inspired by the rained out World Equestrian Games, I thought it would be time for a little raincoat round-up.
Here are a few of the best stylish and functional mid-season raincoats available out there right now:
Uhip Sport Duo in Navy
A lightweight jacket for spring, summer, and autumn made of material and functionalities perfect for any activity in any weather. The jacket is insulated with a thin layer Sorona See Pro from DuPont, an insulation that provides maximum warmth and low weight while produced of annually renewable plant-based ingredients. The jacket provides just the warmth you need a chilly spring day or evening and the outer layer prevents the water from coming through a rainy day. The collar is high and has a comfortable fleece on the inside.
The skirt is thin rain resistant functional with elastics on the inside and zippers at the front and back which enables you to perform your activity in rainy /and or windy weather without interfering with your mobility. The skirt is simple to carry with you and to take on and of.
I have this set of wonderful rain wear – read the review HERE
Ronner design Begonia jacket in Olive
Beautiful print as well as a super practical jacket: that’s the Rönner Begonia for you! Zipped and lined with soft stretchy cotton it’s comfortable and hooded, ideal for rainy riding days. Comes with a cute little pouch for easy and clean (barn) storage.
Georgia in Dublin Dublette
The Dublette, expandable rain jacket, is an elegant, lightweight and waterproof jacket. It can expand over a back protector, backpack and/or bulky layers. When one tightens the bungees on the back and down the sleeves, the Dublette takes on its most elegant form with a cinched waist and fishtail swing at the back. In addition, the Dublette has a detachable cape which adds extra waterproofing on the shoulders and takes the brunt of heavy rain. Ideal for riding thanks to the longer back that goes over the saddle, the high viz details offering a safe ride, and the noiseless, waterproof (10.000MM) fabric.
House of Horses Helsinki Rain coat
This raincoat really brightens up any rainy day! A lovely pink House of Horses raincoat, the hood has a light grey cotton blend lining. Reflective logo print on the chest and back, sides and back halters can be opened for better riding experience. Big pockets with button closure and ventilation holes in the armpits. Sizes XXS-XL. Material soft PU. Double zipper in the front.
Kingsland Rochelle rain coat
Imperial Riding Anorka Panic at the Disco
Super practical jacket with special unique feature zips. These zips allow you to put your jacket on and to take it off even if you are wearing a helmet. This sporty anorak jacket keeps you warm and dry. Two large zipped front pockets with water-tight and breathable base material keep you warm and dry. The material of this jacket can absorb up to 1000 g of steam within 24 hours per square meter, and it has been tested for water-tightness at up to 3,000 mm.
Have a dry and stylish ride!
SPOGA FAVORITES Sept 12018 edition
Twice a year the Messe in Cologne, Germany, opens its doors to horse lovers business to business heaven during the SPOGA tradefair. Every single time I attend, I’m blown away by the fabulous new fashion, the technical innovations and the discovery of new brands that shake up the established industry offerings. This year it was all about reinventing classic styles, the occasional pop of color and adding technical touches to trusted items.
A few brands stood out for me this time and I’ve made a little round-up of some of this years must haves:
Ariat has me completely hooked on their collections and I can’t wait to show you what’s new this year. I love them because of their excellent quality products, impeccable classic style and super selection. There are some very exciting things on their way this winter in the boots department (lace-ups anyone?) and breeches (casual crossover leggings anyone?), but for now I’ve added two of my personal favorites: the navy blue Tri Factor full seat breeches (product review on these beauties is coming up soon!) and a pair of coutnry casual Alora Cordovan boots.
Add a sleek and subtle show shirt to the look, like the “sky” shortsleeve from Equithème: a brand that has been around since the 80’s but has recently upgraded their selection and quality of products: make sure to check out their collection!
One of my all time favorites, Rönner Design, really is one of the very few brands in the business that can pull off classy pony prints for adults. I love their technical range to ride in, but also can’t resist most of their casual wear items like this Marina beige and ivory sweater.
Accessorize your ‘SPOGA favorites’ look with some items from smaller newcomer brands like an Espoir equestrian fancy stitch belt (check out their immaculate collection and be ready to shop!), a pair of 18K gold plated U Black rider spurs, a Desori horse gold logo bracelet an a classic and timeless Dapple Equestrian navy, beige and brown saddle pad to tie the whole look together.
Finish off your look with some tried and trusted brands who continuously reinvent themselves to give us the best the equestrian world has to offer: a pair of Roeckl Milton gloves (loads of eco friendly news coming up from Roeckl soon) and a Galassia glitter dark blue KEP Italia helmet.

The main event
Eventing season is officially in full swing! The cross-country section of the 3-day events is most certainly one of my favorite things to watch. I wish I were brave enough to actually do it…. for now, I’ll stick to being a stylish spectator 😉
What to wear to one of these magnificent springtime events? Lots of layers and a mud proof item or two. I came across these incredibly cute Joules teal green and flower print wellies, which not only posed as the color pallet inspo for this look but also are pretty much the best footwear for countryside eventing viewing.
Wear them with a pair of soft blue Kingsland Kadi breeches, a soft pink Kudamono Lyocell blouse, a classy Oughton Limited belt and Joules Laurel green padded gilet.
For your ride, swap your wellies for a pair of dark brown lace-up custom Kempkens dressage boots, wear your suede Antarès helmet with pride and don’t forget your trusted pair of Roeckl grip gloves.
Before leaving the house, remember it can be chilly in the countryside, so throw on a stylish and functional Louis Vuitton logo scarf.
Enjoy all of the wonderful equestrian sports this season and have a stylish ride!
Fits like a glove
Finding some spring pieces that will fit you like a glove is easier than you think!
One of my current favorite key items for any look, thanks to still wanting to look sophisticated while sporting a growing bump, is a pair of Kingsland Katja Pull on full seat riding breeches in classic beige. Keeping my frail pale winter skin out of the spring sunshine is also key and for this, I love the Asmar Equestrian logo long sleeve T in this lovely shade of soft Olive, paired with a La Valencio ivory colored zip vest.
Thes soft shimmery shades call for bold and beautiful chocolate and croco rider accessories like a pair of Stivaleria Secchiari patent croco boots, a Samshield croco detail helmet, a pair of matching Roeckl Chester grip gloves and the ultimate no miss, must have stable accessories: the PS of Sweden luxury grooming bag with matching spur straps.
Style it out this springtime weekend with a pair of Gucci sunglasses and an exquisite glove print silk scarf by Echo Museum Collection.
Have a stylish ride!!
