Snowflake

Snnowflake

First real lasting snow is predicted for this week, and I thought I’d get ready for that snowflake feeling with a wintery street to stable outfit.

I love looking at technical outdoor sports brands other than the equestrian ones for inspiration, as those brands usually work just as well for riding. Especially ski-wear is  well suited as it’s designed for outdoor activity, flexibility and style.

A brand that I’ve liked for a very long time thanks to it’s innovative retro Swiss style and quality technical items is Alprausch. Today I’ve chosen to add the Alprausch Helga down jacket into the mix thanks to it’s super cute retro snowflake print.

Wear it with a Miasuki Cashmere silk blend crisp white turtleneck sweater, a pair of perfect street to stable Imperial Riding full seat denim breeches and a Kudamono vintage leather belt.

For you ride, match your Hauke Schmidt Arabella gloves to your Königs Melbourne boots and ride in style with the Back on Track EQ3 blue helmet (read a review on this great helmet here).

When heading out to meet friends for a coffee afterwards, change your boot for a pair of Ariat Wexdord H2O short boots and your helmet for a J Crew pom pom beanie.

Enjoy the snow and have a stylish ride!

Special Edition: The stylish equestrian for Danielle Reynolds

special edition DVR

Meet Danielle Reynolds: fearless young entrepreneur, innovative fashion designer and stylish equestrian

Screen Shot 2017-10-08 at 09.59.23She started riding when she was first plonked on a horse age 3. Her and her sister  developed that horse obsession most of us get. They were at the yard all weekend, every weekend; riding and hanging out at the stables was all they were ever interested. If the girls weren’t at the yard they’d be playing horses in the garden, setting up jumping courses, wearing full gear (including hat and body protector) anywhere they went, testing each other on everything from their horse-care books, playing their Mary King play-station games or drawing layouts of yards they wished to own in the future.

Danielle was lucky enough to have over ten years of quality riding tuition which she is incredibly grateful for, but from many years since of hacking and not taking her riding too seriously, she does notice quite a few bad habits she’s fallen into through such relaxed riding for such a long time!  Her favourite type of riding is simply when the horse is enjoying it as much as she does, whether that be hacking out with friends letting the horses race each other, or out at cross-country or a sponsored ride.

Screen Shot 2017-10-08 at 09.59.49Hacking is what Danielle spends most of her time doing. Having direct access to the South Downs (UK) means rides are limitless and beautiful. Getting out with one of her good friends for a ride, letting the horses have a good stretch and let off some steam whilst the humans have a good giggle and catch up is the type of riding she loves. She would like to be able to take her riding more seriously too but with starting a business her free time is very limited. Danielle hopes that in the not too far future she can purchase her own horse and get out and about a bit more.

Danielle is the founder and owner of DVR Equestrian Sport. A brand-new performance based Equestrian-wear brand. Her first collection STYLE VIS™ concentrates on the safety of being seen and offers a range of premium, practical designs for riding, cycling and running.

For Danielle the most inspirational riders are those standing up for change in the equestrian world based on so much tradition, for example Charlotte Dujardin encouraging the of wearing of crash helmets in the dressage ring.

In terms of what Danielle wears when riding, she’s one of those people that often opts for gym-wear over equestrian brands, and this is partly why she launched her own collection. You’ll find her in a pair of her favourite running leggings and a Nike base-layer most of the time.

We put together a look for Danielle today incoporating her own designs, but also some of her style favorites. We of course started with the basic essentials: a stylish and supportive sports bra by her own brand DVR Equestrian and a pair of plum Style VIS rider leggings also by DVR Equestrian. We added a bit of fashion into the mix with this comfortable, functional yet super stylish Kenzo tiger sweater and layered a classic Ariat black wind breaker bomber jacket on top for those chilly English countryside rides. Danielle also loves her Ariat Heritage Contour II field boots, so we had to add them in. She keeps safe and stylish while riding, not only by wearing her Style VIS collection, but also with a Charles Owen Pro II helmet and a piar of Hauke Schmidt Touch of Class gloves. We added on one more hint of sporty style: a pair of Puma satin sneakers to change into after her ride.

Would like to ride safely and in style too? Go check out the DVR Equestrian collection online right HERE.

Have a safe and stylish ride!

Dusty pink for days

Dusty pink for days

I may have accidentally gone on a mini shopping spree this weekend, which included one (or more) dusty pink pieces to take me from summer to the first cooler days of autumn. So, I thought I’d put my shopping spree to good use and make it the inspiration for a today’s #rootd.

Have you seen this Ted Baker velvet quilted bomber jacket? I love everything about it, the material, the color, the cut and… the washability 😉 Wear it with a sleek black Burberry classic polo shirt and a pair of grey Euro-Star Coco Glam full seat breeches.

Accessorise the look with a pair of classic back lace up Cavallo Primus boots, Uvex sport style glamour gloves, Back on Track scarf and a Gucci horse bit leather belt.

Add on a final touch of dusty pink with a pair of Chiara Ferragni collection Candy flirting slip on sneakers to change into after your ride.

Have a stylish ride!

Special Edition: The stylish equestrian for Scarlett Wyrobnik

Scarlett W final
Meet Scarlett Wyrobnik: Dressage rider, equestrian lifestyle ambassador and stylish equestrian.
Scarlett 1.pngScarlett has been riding since she was six years old. She started riding together with her older sister Jillian during the holidays and their parents, who were wonderfully obsessed with horses as too, were very supportive of the girls’ passion.
When she was 12 years old, Scarlett got her first very own horse Mistral. She did however have to share it with her sister.
They both learned a lot on Mistral and they were successful up to level M in dressage and showjumping with him.
Soon Scarlett had the chance to start working with young budding horses, and she decided to follow her passion and focus on dressage riding. With one of her favorite horses Rubina (lovingly called Kitty around the barn),  she learned everything up to level S. She got Kitty  when the mare was five and now she is now 16 years old.
Scarlett 2.pngUnfortunately, Kitty is suffering from laminitis and is not able to be ridden anymore, but she is enjoying her early retirement with Scarlett, always remaining her better half.
Sansibar joined Scarlett in November 2015 and is following in Kitty’s footsteps.
She trains this talented horse patiently, with love and harmony to hopefully have their first competition in a level L dressage test soon.
She wishes for the both of them that Sansibar stays healthy so she can continue with him where she had to stop with Kitty.
Scarlett and Sansibar are dreaming of someday riding their first Grand Prix together! Who knows,  according to Scarlett everything is possible with the right amount of discipline.
Scarlett’s role models in equitation are Hannelore Brenner, who is a paraequestrian for Germany and Uta Gräf. The fascinating part about Brenner is how she handles her handicap, trains her horses and offers them a great life.
Scarlett 3She loves Gräfs joyful spirit, which she transfers to her students. Scarlett finds herself very lucky to have experienced Uta Gräfs inspirational style when she participated in a few of her training courses.
Interesting facts about Scarlett are that she could watch her horses eating hay for hours. For her it’s better than watching TV 😉
Furthermore, she loves rides outside with her horses and her dog Zoé. Also, she takes great care of her equipment and a weekly cleanse is a must for her.
Scarlett’s favorite colors are muted tones like brown, black, grey and blue and loves it when everything matches. Every once in a while she’ll like to add a pop of bright red or blue to her look and match patterns to her horses’ gear.
We’ve put a look together today for Scarlett that incorporates not only her favourite hues, but also some of her all time favourite brands. She loves wearing Pikeur breeches and we went for the new Clarissa grip in navy blue. As a lover of matching outfits, we combined the breeches with a navy blue Mountain Horse long sleeve Alyssa polo and a navy blue HV Polo must have ‘Cheval’ vest (… a vest is really a must have versatile item for Scarlett). For an extra layer of comfort and style, we’ve added a grey Naketano zip hoodie, which is one of Scarlett’s favourite brands as well.
You’ll see Scarlett in a few different types of Samshield helmets and for this look we chose the classic Shadowmat navy blue one and added a Kingsland Delano navy blue baseball cap for after her ride. Playing on the blue and grey colorscheme we added a pair of Uvex sportstyle gloves and a true ‘equinelife’ necessity: a Horze grooming bag.
We finished off the look with a pair of Königs lace-up polo caramel colored boots and matched them to a Liebeskind Berlin braided belt.

Peony power

Peony power

I’m loving the embroidered denim jacket trend and could not resist doing a #rootd with this peony design jacket by Madeleine.

Wear it with a daring pair of Horka Canary yellow Utah breeches and a moss green American Vintage casual T shirt.

This look works best with some brown rider accessories like the Petrie Athene polo boots, a Micheal Kors belt, a pair of Roeckl grip gloves and the ever stylish KEP Italia customer Cromo T helmet.

Add another little touch of peony power to tame your locks after your ride with a flower power Aeropostale headband and wear a pair of fashionable Gucci round frame sunnies.

Have a stylish ride!

Black bronco

black-bronco

Rock this western inspired look for a training with your bucking bronco or a casual trek out into the woods with your english stye sport horse.

The R13 western shirt offer the best base for this black bronco look. ware it with a pair of Equi-Theme riding jodhpurs breeches and Alberto Fasciani short boots.

Layer on a cream colored Brunello Cucinelli Bead-embellished leather vest and top off the look with a Topshop Moto Denim Western Oversized Jacket.

Even western gals need to protect their heads, might as well do it in style with the Troxel Sierra helmet. Finish off your look with some stylish accessories like black  CLUSE Women’s La Boheme Leather Strap Watch, the Saint Laurent Women’s Leather Skinny Western Belt and Bandana-Print Étamine Scarf.

Have a stylish ride!

Orange is the new black

ointnb

Orange, in any shade, is the new black of this autumn / winter season.

Especially when combined with a classy pair of black BR Madelyn breeches (check out a review on these beauties here), a black Antares Shagreen glossy leather look helmet and a black Montar Isabelle zip sweater.

This magnificent ELT Erica burnt orange jacket goes perfectly with a white Lacoste polo shirt and some carefully selected accessories in various shades of brown/orange. The Horses belt from Pumps en Paarden is one of my absolute personal favourites as well as the Roeckl leather winter gloves.

Finish off your OITNB look with a pair of stunning Sergio Grasso Treviso dressage riding boots.

Have a stylish ride!

Flower Bomb

Nothing beats a combination of two of this seasons hottest trends: a great floral pattern and a bomber jacket.

The bomber jacket is from Juicy Couture and is layered over a soft and fuctional Naketano T shirt.  A thermal burgundy vest by Marmot adds a layer for warmth while complementing the color palet.

A wonderful color that is also very on trend this season is the orange/coral. These full seat breaches from Annie’s Equestrian are the best companions for this outfit. Check out their site for more fun and funky designs.

Pair this with some classic black accessories like these super stylish Petrie boots, a Ralph Lauren belt, KASK helmet and Samshield gloves, a final finishing touch with this Spiced equestrian phone case and your floral funky flower bomb outfit is ready to go!
