It’s all in the details

its-all-in-the-detials

It’s all in the details this autumn/winter: embroidery, studs, buckles, chains and all other beautiful embellishments are the hottest trend this season.

Every respectable fashion brand as well as the high street shops will have embroidered bomber jackets on offer. I’ve chosen this one by Needle and Thread, because it’s flower details pick up the beautiful color of the ANKY Technical casuals gun metal full seat breeches with silver embroidery on the back pocket. Pair it with an O’Shaughnessey pewter spectator shirt and a pair of custom buckle polo boots by Donadeo Collezzioni Italiana.

Accessorise with a custom made C4 belt (get yours now with a 10% discount by using the code C4TSE10 at check-out), a pair of Roeckl charcoal grey Swarovski detail gloves, a pair of Cartier sunglasses and a chain embellished Stella McCartney mini Falabella clutch.

Top off the look, literally, with a One K suede leather helmet and a Valentino Garavani Rock Stud trilby hat.

Complement the touch of mustard in the collar with a beautiful belt by Italian brand Makebe, an H&M scarf and a pair of custom Italian Stivaleria Secchiari suede boots.

Finalise the look with the all Italian KEP Italia chromo T suede helmet and a Italian design Desori horse Ti Amo day bag.

Special Edition: the stylish equestrian for Jess Hargrave

jess-hargrave

jess-2Jessie “Jess” Hargrave – was born and raised on a farm in rural North Carolina, where she and her two brothers began riding as soon as they outgrew their indoor rocking horses. Described as “pony mad” Jess got her first pony at the age of three and she soon joined her local pony club at age 9 she was introduced to three-day eventing.

Hardworking and driven, Jess progressed through her pony club ratings, and achieved the coveted ‘A’ rating at only 16 years of age on an OTTB she trained herself.  Committed to continuously expanding her own base of knowledge, Jess is also a Ride Right Equestrian Sport Psychology certified level III coach, a USPC National Examiner, and is pursuing the USEA training for ICP certification.

A constant pursuit of high level training throughout Jess’s riding career is evident, and she has been fortunate enough to train extensively with some of the very best coaches and most talented riders in the sport, including: Lucinda Green, Mary Gordon Watson, J. Micheal Plumb, Tim Grubb, Holly Hudspeth, Rebecca Howard, Sinead Halpin,  John Michael Durr and Tamra Smith.

jess-1With a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master’s degree in Early Childhood, Special Education, and International Education, Jess has a strong foundation in the art of teaching.  Her self-described “love of learning” and passion for educating, coupled with a background in learning theory and a myriad of teaching experiences, allow her to teach and instruct a broad range of students and horses in a variety of different settings. With a special interest in challenging or “difficult” horses,  Jess prides herself on being able to cater to individual needs of both equine and human students alike to maximize their results. Her coaching interests ranging from Pony Club, to pure Dressage and Eventing

In 2013, Jess relocated to the West Coast and is currently located in Temecula, Kingsway farm, California.  With her background in pony club, and enthusiasm for coaching young riders, she is pleased to offer regular lesson programs and training for riders and horses of all ages and disciplines.

jess-4Jess describes her style as free spirited and minimal, she gravitates towards darker blues, purples, greys and black/whites, but absolutely loves turquoise. She wears a lot of bracelets that all have a meaning or are meaningful to her in some way. Most people can recognise her at shows by the bracelets!
Jess is 5’9′ 120lbs with dirty blonde hair blue eyed and is always smiling which somehow seems to come thru in her “style”.
Like her look? Here is all you need to know:
Jess really like her dark blue Pikeur breeches for daily training and we’ve combined them with a long sleeve Asmar Equestrian Fusion crew neck T shirt, a Naketano super comfortable hoodie and Fix Design Turquoise jacket (for the rainy days).
The dark blue One K helmet goes perfectly with the outfit and we’ve gone for all brown rider accessories like the Equine Couture diamond quilted suede belt,  pair of Horze Crescendo gloves and Tredstep Medici tall field boots.
We had to include a stack of bracelets, and these are a few of Jess’ favourites by Jess MaHarry (she especially likes the ones that benefit Jess MaHarry’s horse & donkey sanctuary…).
Last but not least a turquoise Kate Spade bag for Jess to bring along her Katherine Cosmetics signature mascara and her ever-present sunscreen.

The grey zone

the-gray-zone

Nothing wrong with a few shades of grey, as long as you don’t remain in the grey zone too long! Avoid this grey zone feeling by adding a strong pop of color like this vibrant red.

Wear your Mrs Tutton ‘June’ merino wool grey and charcoal grey striped long sleeve T with a pair of black Horze Grand Prix breeches and spice it up with a red Maje flower embellished bomber jacket.

Accessories you look with a mix of grey and red, like with this KEP Italia cromo T mat grey helmet, a pair of Cavalleria Toscana sunglasses and a pair of Samshield gloves.

Easily bring your phone with you while you ride by wearing this super classy and functional red rider wristlet from Black Knight Accessories (you can have them personalised too!) and make a statement by pairing it with a red Gucci logo belt.

Finalise the look with a pair of classic black Alberto Fasciani boots.

L’Orangerie

orangerie

It takes a brave and bold equestrian to incorporate a bright splash of orange into a #rootd. We’ve just made it a little bit easier for you with this fresh and sophisticated Autumn look.

The Joseph V neck lightweight sweater is a gorgeous vibrant saved of orange and is paired perfectly with a dark nay blue merino wool polo from Equirex, a Dada Sport lightweight grey jacket and a pair of stormy grey full seat breeches by BR Equestrian.

The accessories all compliment the choice of color with a brown buffalo leather Oughton Limited fence buckle belt, a Mountain Horse cap for after your ride, a pair of (my favorite) Roeckl brown chester gloves, a Samshield navy blue helmet and a pair of König Grandgester classic dressage boots.

Add another little splash of color with an Armani Jeans scarf and you Orange inspired look is ready for the ride!

Autumn vibes

autumn-vibes

Ahhh Autumn, not always known as the friendliest of seasons, but those chilly mornings, beautiful days, changing colors and gorgeous sunsets really are great. This #rootd makes that transition from Summer to Autumn just that little bit easier with some soft Autumn shades of beige, brown and green.

The military style jacket from D Squared is a great lightweight season transition jacket to wear over a Free People plaid joplin button down shirt. Wear it with a pair of Tuffrider fullest breeches and make sure your SSG Gloves match the look. I love this Green Ovation Protege helmet, it’s sporty, functional and a perfect match for this look.

A few classy accessories are key making this a sophisticated ensemble: gorgeous lace-up custom De Niro brown boots, a Hermes belt and a pair of Ray-Ban aviators. Last but not least the statement accessory for this look: the BB saddle bag from Makebe (available in many more color combo’s – so cute!!!)

Perfect Plum

perfect-plum

The color that really stood out for me when exploring all the gorgeous equestrian collections for this autumn/winter, was this wonderful shade of perfect plum.

I love the way the detailing in these Eurostar breeches really celebrate this color to the max. Pair it with a plum Topshop batwing satin bomber and a perfect plum and champagne reversible gold stirrup buckle belt from ManeJane.

To balance out the color palette, I’ve gone for a fresh shade of serenity blue (yes, it still is THE 2016 color according to Pantone). Great picks are this light blue Ralph Lauren Heidi Oxford stretch shirt, a Rebecca Minkoff leather tassle key chain and a Casetify Serenity phone case.

Complete the look with a dark blue Samshield Shadowmatt and Swarovski helmet, a pair of super sporty Alberto Fasciani showjumping boots (check out my review on these beauties right here), a pair of Tom Ford plum colored sunglasses and last but not least a Givenchy Nightingale plum leather bag.

Have a stylish ride!

Celebrating Sunday

Serenading sunday

Sometimes Mondays just creep up on you a little too fast.

Let’s hold onto that Sunday feeling a little bit longer by celebrating Sunday with this immaculate ‘Sunday’ linen shirt by Mrs Tutton. The Mrs Tutton’s ‘Sunday’ shirt is a stylish and practical casual linen shirt of which the vented split back sits neatly with a saddle without needing to be tucked.

Wear your Sunday shirt with a pair of Kingsland Kendra breeches and a Mountain Horse Golden Bronze Vienna vest.

Accessorize your Sunday look with some super equestrian must haves like the stylish and classic Celeris black lace up boots, a pair of Roeckl summer gloves and the exquisite Lisa Sands design bit belt.

Top it off with a beautiful Mulberry Cara Delevingne bag, a pair of Illesteva Leonard sunglasses and a Humble Chic NY sugar skull scarf.

Have a great Monday and a stylish ride!

Special edition: The stylish equestrian for Lyndal Oatley

Lyndal final

Meet Lyndal Oatley: Olympian and first class fashionista.

Lyndal 3Lyndal grew up in the heart of Australian wine country in the upper Hunter Valley. She loved horses and riding from as early as she can remember and would dress up her mums foals in her dressing gowns and gallop her ponies through the vineyards. It was an amazing way to grow up!

She originally competed in show horses, winning the grand national Australian title two years in a row. It was by showing horses that Lyndal developed her love of equestrian fashion and style.

In 2000 Lyndal was sitting in the stands at the Sydney olympics and finally worked up the courage to chase her own dreams and work towards the goal of competing in the olympics and pursue a career in dressage.

She met Patrik (Kittel – Swedish Olympic dressage rider) in 2007 while dressage horse shopping, she bought the horse, started training with Patrick and the rest is history …(Lyndal and Patrick have been married since 2008)

Lyndal 1Lyndal is a most amazingly accomplished rider: she is the current Australian record holder in Grand Prix, has competed in 2 Olympics, 2 world cup qualifiers, 2 world equestrian games and 1 wold cup final.

2016 has been huge for Lyndal: making it to the world cup (Aachen) final and competing at the Olympics with her horse Sandro Boy. She’s incredibly proud of the journey they have traveled together so far and is greatly looking forward to what other amazing achievements they can add to their list in the next few years.

Lyndal 2Lyndal’s style is sophisticated, sleek and elegant. She loves the elegance of the equestrian look: the tailored fit, the silhouettes and the color tones, all of this blended together to complement our horses, never to overwhelm them.

Like her style? Here’s all the info you need to get Lyndal’s look:

Sophisticated, sleek and elegant are the key words we kept in mind when putting Lyndal’s outfit together and who better to body this style than Ralph Lauren. Both the V neck sweater and white shirt are by Ralph Lauren. We paired it with a sleek pair of black Mountain Horse cool tech full seat breeches and a gorgeous autumn burnt orange Montar jacket.

Lyndal loves her accessories and can’t live without good pair of sunglasses like this pair by Tory Burch. She loves her custom Kempens boots and swears by Roeckl gloves. Lyndal recently discovered the magical world of customisable KEP Italia helmets and absolutely loves this dark Caramel and Lace helmet.

We finalised the look with a Hobbs belt to match the boots, a Silver Snaffle tote bag and a Spiced Equestrian ‘weird horse girl’ phone case … just because as we are all still weird (yet fashionable) horse girls at heart 😉
