I’ve pretty much been on a life long search for the perfect warm, functional and affordable winter riding boot. Having tried a few really cheap ones (rubbish) and keeping my ridiculously expensive ones for ‘nice cold weather’ only, I’ve finally found a pair that can do it all.
The HKM Arctic winter boots are completely lined with a faux fur thermo sock, keeping my toes toasty warm. The rear of the boot features a zip and has elasticated inserts for comfort and flexibility. At the top of the zip is a velcro embossed strap that wraps around the calf that looks great, but also ensures the zip does not slide down. The boot is anatomically formed for comfort and for the ultimate fit around the calf.
The tough outer sole is hardwearing and designed for use during riding yet is flexible and non-slip. They’re are even flexible enough for the finesse of winter dressage training and are sturdy enough to withstand all the glorious mud and muck that comes with the winter season.
The oiled leather seems a bit sticky at first, but this keeps the boots wonderfully waterproof and protects them from all the elements.
I think these beauties will be coming with me to the mountains this season as they are not only functional but would look great with a winter casual outfit too.
In short: excellent value for money for a pair of full quality leather boots.
